Bio

Formed in 2003 with a heart for worship, Shootingstars are an acoustic duo originating from Auckland, New Zealand. The two write intelligent, emotive songs that showcase both their musical and vocal ability.

The real highlight however is in the lyrics, most are worship songs, some pure scripture. Some deal with the hardships of life, some are love songs, but all are incredibly sincere and sung with such passion that it’s hard not to listen over and over.

They have so far released 3 full length albums independently. Their debut album, 'A Whisper In My Ear' released in 2003, features twelve songs, each beautiful, some tear inducing. The title track is the best example of this - written to a best friend who was tragically killed in a car accident the song proves that faith can endure through even the hardest times in life. This positivism covers the entire album giving it a feeling of hope while retaining a deep edge that sets Shootingstars apart and provides them with a unique voice. Following up from 'A Whisper in my ear' they released an 11 track album; 'Letters to God', and in early 2006 released their most recent offering 'Over the Water'. The level of songwriting, musical ability, and production has matured over the group's history but they still maintain the same honest approach to music they began with.

Shootingstars have played all over New Zealand and in 2004 completed a tour throughout Calvary Chapel Churches in Southern California. They have performed for the past 3 years at the Parachute Music Festival and have refined their live show to a beautiful display of the songs that feature on their albums. They are currently working towards a fourth release and have plans to head back to America towards the end of the year.

Once they were criticised for not having enough doubt in their lyrics. Adamant not to be discouraged by this, they chose to consider it a compliment and a sign that the lyrics were shining through the music more than they had realised. They aim to keep sharing their faith through their music, remaining open to follow God wherever he leads.
