Lovers Collide

The shoreline is glistening
positioning it's way out to sea
The sea is a fire, a fire

As the ocean collides with your eyes
all I see is difference, difference.
The hand I hold is growing cold
our steps once close turn east and west,
to part the sands
Afraid of collision and its sparkling reflection of me
it is hard to define, to define
In my peripheral vision I see a glimpse of you
out in the distance, in the distance
And stories old they fill my mind
like lines in the sand they twist and turn all over us
It's clear to see the oceans wide
would you take the step and save your life for me.

And I find you here you haven't listened
to anything I have ever said to you
and while we're resting here
the grass that's beneath us quietly turns to dust
